Living History on Ft. Walker

Built in 1863-64 as one of more than 20 earthen forts designed to protect the city from advancing Union forces, Fort Walker is one of the last remaining remnants. At the time, Atlanta was one of the most fortified cities in the world. Sherman and his armies were forced to change tactics in order to take the city. On Saturday, March 13, 2010. Ft. Walker comes alive with the living history and interpretive skills of Union and Confederate soldiers.
Attendees will learn about uniforms, camp life, battlefield strategy and more. Watch soldiers construct a Chevaux de Frise and learn how it was used.
Special presentations are scheduled at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. but our Living History Guides will answer your questions, provide insight to life of a soldier and more.
During your visit we hope you will take the time to visit the Atlanta Cyclorama to experience the Battle of Atlanta.
